Meat and vegetables are measured in grams and kilograms.Milk and other liquid foods are measured in liters or milliliters. These units only measure quantity:they do not measure the value of the food to the body. The unit which measures the quality or value of food is the calorie is the amount of heat given off by food when it burns. This measurement tells how much energy a certain food has when it is completely used by the body.

Genetic(基因)engineering is the change of the cells which makes up living things. In recent years,it has been successfully employed in the improvement of plants and animals. For ethical(道德上的)reasons, however,I would agree that genetic engineering should not be practised on human beings.
Changing the genetic make-up of humans raises the problem of authority(职权).To whom should the right to change human genetic material belong—the government, scientists, the general public or the individual? The results of a survey(调查) conducted in Christchurch,New Ireland, show the lack of a satisfactory answer.People could not agree on who should be authorized to decide the permitting or regulation of human genetic engineering. The institution or individual given that rights might abuse(滥用) the power.
Some might argue that genetic engineering should be used on human beings as it would make them stronger or cleverer. They say that genetic engineering could do away with illnesses, prolong the human life. But the quality of life would not necessarily be improved.Terrible possibilities come from good intentions and genetic conditioning could result in the creation of a race that physically perfect but totally dehumanized(缺乏人性).
We already know that cleverness does not lead to happiness directly.
Dr Patrick Dixon warns that there is need to consider the possible abuses of rapidly advancing science.I believe that human genetic engineering is an area of possible abuse;once put into practice, there could be no satisfactory way to ensure that it will do good to the future of mankind.

用英语写一篇词数100左右,题为“Women Should Not Be Looked Down Upon”的短文。

Women Should Not Be Looked Down Upon
In many countries in the world, women are looked down upon.It is more difficult for them to get some work than men.In order to get a job, they sometimes have to tell a lie. That’s unfair. In fact, women can work no worse than men. There’s nothing that women can’t do.
Perhaps, they are better at their work than men.For example,in making telephones and computers, many companies would rather employ women, for men can’t pick up the small pieces easily with their fingers.Like men, they can also become excellent teachers, engineers, doctors. So I am sure the day will come soon when women can really get equal rights.
